Your suite is equipped with a hard wired combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm with 2AA Backup Batteries. This device provides dual protection by detecting both smoke from fires and carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas. The alarm features a test/reset button to verify functionality and alert you to any issues.
Homeowners are responsible for ensuring the batteries are functional and replaced as needed to maintain reliable operation. If the alarm signals a fault, low battery, or an actual smoke/CO event, follow the manufacturer’s instructions provided to you in the Homeowner Library and contact your Strata Manager if assistance is required.
Fire Alarm
Your
suite is equipped with a hard‑wired fire alarm
system that includes an in‑suite speaker. In
the event of a fire alarm activation within the building, the speaker will
broadcast audible alerts and emergency instructions issued through the building’s
life‑safety system.
The fire
alarm system and all of its components (including in‑suite speakers tied into the centralized system) are part of the
building’s common property and fire safety infrastructure, and as such the
Strata Corporation is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and
repair of these systems in accordance with building and safety regulations and
the Fire Safety Plan required under the BC Fire Code.
Homeowners
are not required to perform any action or maintenance on the in‑suite fire alarm system; however, they must not remove, deactivate,
or tamper with the in‑suite fire
alarms, as these devices are essential components of the building’s
fire protection system and must remain operational for safety and code
compliance.
If you notice unusual sounds, repeated false alarms, or if the speaker
appears damaged or malfunctioning, please contact your Strata Manager for
assistance.
Sprinker Heads
Your
suite is equipped with ceiling and/or sidewall sprinkler heads that form part
of the building’s automated fire suppression system, designed in accordance
with British Columbia fire safety codes to activate only when exposed to high
heat and help control fire in the affected area.
Sprinkler
heads are highly sensitive and must be kept clear of obstruction so they can
operate effectively. Do not hang items from them, place furniture directly
beneath them, or tamper with the sprinkler caps or mechanisms, as damage or
interference could reduce their effectiveness or cause accidental discharge.
Prevention of obstruction and physical damage is a requirement under fire
safety standards.
Any concerns regarding sprinkler heads — such as physical
damage, obstruction, or signs of leakage — should be reported to your Strata
Manager immediately.
