Hose Bib and Gas Bib Valves
Hose Bib (Outdoor Water Tap)
- Use for light outdoor purposes only. Hose bibs are intended for watering plants and light cleaning. Do not use them for continuous water supply or commercial equipment.
- Always turn off completely after use. Ensure the valve is fully closed once finished to prevent leaks and water damage.
- Do not leave hoses connected year-round. Hoses should be disconnected when not in use, especially during colder months, to prevent pressure buildup and freezing damage.
- Check for leaks regularly. Inspect the hose bib and connections for dripping or moisture and report any issues promptly to building management.
- Winter precautions. During cold weather, ensure the hose bib is shut off as directed by building management. Frozen pipes can cause significant damage.
Gas Bib Valve (Outdoor Gas Connection)
- Use only approved gas appliances. Gas bib valves are designed for compatible appliances such as approved BBQs. Always follow manufacturer instructions.
- Turn the valve off when not in use. For safety, ensure the gas bib valve is fully closed after each use.
- Never modify gas connections. Do not alter gas lines, valves, or fittings. All gas-related work must be completed by a licensed gas fitter with proper approvals.
- Check connections before use. Ensure hoses and fittings are secure and in good condition before turning on the gas.
- Be alert to gas odors. If you smell gas, turn off the valve immediately (if safe to do so), ventilate the area, and contact building management or your gas utility provider from a safe location.
- Do not store items nearby. Keep the gas bib valve and surrounding area clear and accessible at all times.
